2011

January 13th, 7pm, Davidson College, North Carolina, Van Every/Smith Galleries: Susan Bell and Mitch Epstein will speak about their not-for-profit project "What is American Power?", a billboard and website campaign launched in the spring of 2010 that encourages responsible energy production and consumption. The lecture is presented in conjunction with the exhibition "People, Places, Power: Reframing the American Landscape" (January 14-February 25), which "focuses on the complex interplay between personal, social, political, and economic forces in rural and urban America." 2010

April 22,  Bell and artist Mitch Epstein launch What Is American Power?, a not-for-profit billboard and website project to encourage Americans to think harder about energy production and consumption.   23 billboards will be installed in Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio to honor Earth Day.  Website launch: April 1.

January-May, Bell is teaching at the New School.


2008

January 2-July 2, Susan Bell will be living in Berlin. She is available for European bookings in spring 08; and both American and European bookings thereafter.

March, Vogue magazine published Bell's essay "My Two Moms," in Up Front, p. 298. Read it here.

July 13-20, Tin House Summer Writers Workshop, Portland, OR. Susan Bell will give a lecture on self-editing and moderate a panel on editing.

September 12, 7 PM, McNally Robinson Bookstore, 52 Prince St., NY. A reading/discussion/book signing with Susan Bell.

November 9 (Friday), 2:30-4 PM, Council of Literary Magazines and Presses, the New School, 66 West 12th St., NYC. Susan Bell will moderate a panel of artists in various media (writing, theater, film, photography). The panel will explore their editorial approaches, with the aim of illuminating what artists and writers have in common, how they differ, and what they can learn from one other. Panelists: Dale Peck, Maria Mileaf, Steve Hamilton, and Mitch Epstein.
